Registration


Dates for registration are listed on the school’s academic calendar. Late registration is permitted only under unusual circumstances.

Full-Time Status

Undergraduate students who carry at least twelve credit hours and graduate students who carry at least nine credit hours during fall and spring semesters are regarded as full-time.  Summer enrollment is optional and does not influence one’s full-time status.

Health Requirements

Prior to your arrival at the LSUHSC School of Public Health, it is important to complete health requirements. The Louisiana State Law requires the submission of immunization records prior to class attendance.  Find complete details @ LSUHSC Office of Student Health

Reapplication

Students who wish to resume studies after an absence of more than one semester from the School of Public Health may be required to submit an application for re-admission at least ten days before registration.

Supplementary transcripts must be submitted if any work has been taken at another institution during the interim. Exceptions to this requirement must be by successful petition to the Dean.

Transfer Credit

Master of Public Health

The School of Public Health allows a maximum of 10 semester credits be transferred into the School of Public if approved by the Academic Advisor, Program Director and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.  Students must complete the transfer of credits before beginning their final semester. No transfer credit is permitted for coursework receiving a grade below B and transfer credits used for another earned degree will not reduce credit hour requirements.

Master of Science in Biostatistics

The School of Public Health allows a maximum of 13 semester credits be transferred into the School of Public if approved by the Major Advisor, Program Director and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.  No transfer credit is permitted for coursework receiving a grade below B and transfer credits used for another earned degree will not reduce credit hour requirements.

Doctor of Philosophy

Candidates for the Doctor of Philosophy degree may receive up to 18 hours of transfer credit if approved by the Major Advisor, Program Director and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.  No transfer credit is permitted for course work receiving a grade below B and transfer credits used for another earned degree will not reduce credit hour requirements. Transfer credits do not reduce the residency requirement.

Auditing Courses

Courses may be audited only with the written permission of the Course Director. The same tuition and fees will be charged for audited courses as for those courses taken for credit.  After they have audited the course, the student is not permitted to repeat the course to earn credit for it.  To register to audit a course, the student should contact Isabel Billiot, for the necessary form, after discussion with their academic advisor.
