Louisiana Transfer Degree

The Louisiana Transfer Associate Degree (LTA) was developed in 2009 to ensure that students completing the 60 hour AA/LT (Associate of Arts) or AS/LT (Associate of Science) can transfer from any state community college to any of the state’s four year universities without losing credit.

By completing specific elective courses within the AS/LT curriculum at a two-year institution, students may meet the admission requirements for undergraduate programs offered at LSUHSC. Admission to these programs is competitive, and earning an AS/LT degree does not guarantee admission.

LTA Programs

Prerequisite course requirements for admission to the following undergraduate programs may be met by earning an AS/LT degree. The specific requirements vary by program, and interested applicants should consult the individual program for specific admission criteria.

Clinical Laboratory Science (B.S.)
Clinical Laboratory Science (B.S.)
Dental Hygiene (B.S.)
Nursing (B.S.N.)

Commencement

Beginning in 2006, a single commencement ceremony, honoring candidates for degrees of the respective professional schools of the LSU Health Sciences Center, will be held each academic year. Payment of all financial indebtedness to the LSU System prior to commencement, as well as attendance at commencement, unless excused in writing, by the student’s Dean, is degree requirements.
