NURS 6306 - HEALTH CARE LEADERSHIP AND THE ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSE[3 Credits] The conceptual frameworks in this course are ecological theory, chaos theory, and social change within complex systems, and the implications for management within healthcare reform and other public and government reports relating to improving the health of all citizens. The roles and responsibilities of the advanced practice nurse (APN) as leader in promoting health, preventing disease, and managing chronic illness are identified, in association with the social determinants of health of populations. Health care policy, the business of health care delivery, evidence-based practice, quality care, inter-professional communication, ethics and legal issues, cultural diversity, and clinical prevention of individuals and populations are addressed.
