MCLIN 420 - HUMANITIES IN MEDICINE - SENIOR ELECTIVE[152 Hours] Medicine at the core is a human profession. While science underpins it, the relationship with human beings define it. To be successful, physicians must be empathetic, compassionate, and open to others whose perspective and experiences are different than their own. Humanities, including art, music, drama, and literature have much to teach us about difference and about ourselves. Through reading, discussion, and reflective writing, the student will enhance his/her ability to understand, value, and relate to others, and gain an appreciation of their own personal journeys towards physicianhood. This course is only offered in block 9.
