NURS 4361 - EKG INTERPRETATION AND THE NURSING PROCESS[1 Credit] This one-semester hour theory course focuses on the interpretation of cardiac electrocardiograms and identification of arrhythmia wave forms that characterize cardiac dysfunctions. Interpretation and arrhythmia interventions are based on the American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Algorithms and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) guidelines. A case study format is utilized for application of the nursing process to the cardiac patient with multi-system dysfunctions, multiple medication interventions and arrhythmia-related assessment findings. Students participate in interactive classroom and internet site exercises with sample arrhythmia wave form strips, case study situations and arrhythmia simulations. Prerequisites: NURS 3351, 3362, and 3372.
