MCLIN 197 - L1 SUMMER RESEARCH ELECTIVE MCLIN 197[30 Hours] The L1 Summer Research Elective course provides exposure to critical topics in clinical and translational research and will use a variety of teaching modalities, including: on-line component (CITI Training certification) and interactive web-based content, seminars and one-on-one training by the research mentor. Students will learn about the IRB and human subjects protocols, how to review pertinent literature and plan a research project, how to present their data (oral presentations), how to write a proposal for research funding and how to conduct responsible, rigorous and reproducible research. Students will begin to appreciate the importance of research in evidence-based medicine. Participants are requested to write an abstract summarizing their research project and to present their research findings at Medical Student Research Day in the fall.
