NURS 7934 - INTRODUCTION TO MIDWIFERY[2 Credits] The Introduction to Midwifery course focuses on the role of the m both as an independent provider and as part of an interprofessional team. This didactic course is designed to provide the student with an overview of the global, national, and local role of midwives. The ethical foundations of midwifery care are reviewed along with the role of the midwife in addressing health disparities and inequities. The course reviews the history of nurse-midwifery in the United States, the role and structure of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) and national and state policy affecting the practice of midwifery.
