NURS 7936 - MIDWIFERY CARE I: SEXUAL & REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH, GYNECOLOGY, HEALTH PROMOTION, EPISODIC PRIMARY CARE[7 Credits] Midwifery Care I is the first in a series of four clinical courses that build upon each other to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to provide midwifery care throughout the scope of midwifery practice. This course offers didactic and practical learning experiences that focus on sexual and reproductive health, gynecology, health promotion and episodic primary care. The course will engage students in a variety of advanced nursing competencies including ethical decision making, legal and professional practice issues, translating research evidence into practice, and shared decision making. Emphasis is placed on evidence based, comprehensive and interprofessional practice. Students develop critical and creative thinking in the context of holistic midwifery practice. Clinical learning experiences take place in a variety of community settings.
