ENHS 6254 - Environmental Policy and Justice[3 Credits] Students will gain knowledge of how environmental health policies are developed, the statutes that have evolved to address public health concerns about specific environmental hazards, and the policy issues that impact how environmental health programs function within governmental structures. Special topics will include policy solutions for mitigating or adapting to climate change and building climate resilience, international environmental health programs, and the policy impacts of environmental equity/justice and risk assessment. Student will gain knowledge of current public health-related issues; associated treaties, laws, policies and regulations; roles played by government, including local, state, federal and international bodies; tools and resources used to evaluate policy; and strategies for effective policy advocacy.
