NURS 7940 - MIDWIFERY CARE III: INTRAPARTUM, POSTPARTUM AND NORMAL NEWBORN CARE.

Midwifery Care Ill is the third in a series of four clinical courses that build upon each other to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to provide midwifery care throughout the scope of midwifery practice. This course focuses on intrapartum, postpartum and normal newborn care. This course will engage students in didactic, simulated, and practical learning experiences in a variety of advanced nursing competencies including ethical decision making, legal and professional practice issues, translating research evidence into practice, and shared decision making. Emphasis is placed on evidence based, comprehensive and interprofessional practice. Students develop critical and creative thinking in the context of holistic midwifery practice. Clinical learning experiences take place in a variety of inpatient and community settings. Prerequisite: NURS 7938 MIDWIFERY CARE II: ANTEPARTUM AND CHRONIC PRIMARY CARE
