BIOMED 120 - Integrated System in Biomedical Sciences I

[3 Credits]
The purpose of this course is to integrate basic principles from neuroscience, physiology, pharmacology, genetics and cancer biology to analyze complex physiological and pathological phenomena. At the end of this course, students will have foundational knowledge of cell physiology and neural communication, functional roles of neuroanatomical regions, organization of sensory and motor systems, basic pharmacological principles, receptor function, pharmacogenomics and precision medicine, neurophysiology and behaviors, including substance use, brain injury and the autonomic nervous system. By incorporating these foundation topics, the course aims to provide a holistic understanding of the interconnected disciplines, preparing graduate students for advanced research and applications in neuroscience, physiology, pharmacology and related fields.
