BIOMED 150 - Professionalism in Biomedical Sciences I[2 Credits] Course Learning Objectives: The purpose of the Professionalism in Biomedical Sciences I course is to provide an overview of resources and professional development activities that will guide and allow development of a successful career in the biomedical sciences. The objectives of the BIOMED 150 can be summarized into (1) professional conduct standards and LSUHSC policies; (2) ethics of human health research; (3) collaboration and equity in science; (4) personal development and self-care; (5) introduction to research resources and graduate research faculty; and (6) creation of individual development plans. This course will use lectures, student presentations, selected special and regular seminar presentations in the basic sciences seminars, and in class activities to explore these objectives. Finally, students will build on their interprofessional education through team-based learning activities that include students from multiple schools within the Health Sciences Center.
