BIONF 100 - Bioinformatics

[4 Credits]
This is a hands-on training introductory course in bioinformatics. Students enrolled in this course will learn bioinformatic analysis of large-scale omics data including but not limited to gene expression data from microarrays, RNA-Seq, next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, miRNA expression, DNA methylation and related biological data using widely adopted algorithms, tools and pipelines. In addition, students will learn functional analysis of genomics data including network and pathway predictions. All students enrolled in MS Biomedical Sciences Bioinformatics-Track must be prepared to learn bioinformatics programming using R/BioConductor, Python or any closely related programing language, with application to solving problems in biomedical sciences.
