GENET 268 - Advanced Molecular Biology and Metabolism

[3 Credits]
This course is designed for all Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. program graduate students to provide the required knowledge of Molecular Biology and Metabolism applicable to their research project. This course will cover the advanced concepts of Molecular Biology and Metabolism and their relationship with disease progressions and therapeutic opportunities. This course aims to provide an advanced overview of replication, transcription, and translation, as well as diagnostic and therapeutic opportunities for these pathways. This course will also offer translational knowledge about cellular (including stem cells and immune cells) metabolisms and their role in cellular homeostasis, disease progression, and therapeutic targets. Upon completion of this course, students will demonstrate advanced knowledge of the central dogma of biology and its translational application and understand the concept of cellular metabolism in homeostasis and disease progression. Students will demonstrate the ability to evaluate the role of stem cell metabolism in therapy resistance and as possible therapeutic targets and achieve competency in molecular biology and metabolism
