NURS 3366 - MENTAL HEALTH NURSING PRACTICUM

[2 Credits]
This clinical course builds on knowledge gained in nursing theories and other disciplines, including social sciences and humanities. In this clinical course, students explore and apply theories, concepts, knowledge, and skills in providing nursing care to mental health patients and families of diverse backgrounds who are coping with mental health issues. Upon completing this course, students will be able to apply the nursing process in clinical settings to assist mental health patients and their families in promoting health, preventing disease, and managing illness by the ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice. Clinical experiences occur primarily in inpatient psychiatric units with adult patients. Simulation is utilized when clinical learning experiences are not available. Prerequisites: NURS 2351, 2362, 2372, HLSC 3409, 3410. Co-requisite: NURS 3356.
