NURS 4359 - NURSING MANAGEMENT IN THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEMS THEORY[3 Credits] Nursing Management in the Health Care System Theory builds upon knowledge from nursing theories and other disciplines, including social sciences and humanities, and all previous sophomore, junior, and senior-level nursing courses. The course provides the structure and framework of management, characteristics of organizational leaders, and responsibilities of nurses. Emphasis is placed on ethics, professional accountability, collaboration, and the use of data to improve practice in nursing throughout the healthcare system. Standards of professional nursing practice are incorporated into the course, including those from the American Nurses Association (ANA), the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (TJC), Louisiana State Board of Nursing (LSBN), Sigma Theta Tau, American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL), and other specialty organizations. Prerequisites: NURS 4352, 4362. 4372, 4357, and 4358. Corequisites: NURS 4369.
