[5 Credits]
This theory and practicum course for RN students builds upon knowledge from nursing theories and other disciplines, including social sciences and humanities.  The course provides the structure and framework of management, characteristics of organizational leaders, and responsibilities of nurses.  Emphasis is placed on ethics, professional accountability, collaboration, and the use of data to improve practice in nursing throughout the healthcare system in the classroom and clinical setting.  Standards of professional nursing practice are incorporated into the course, including those from the American Nurse Association (ANA), the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (TLC), Louisiana Board of Nursing (LSBN), Sigma Theta Tau, American Organization for Nursing Leadership (ANOL), and other specialty organizations.
