NURS 4356 - RN GERONTOLOGY[3 Credits] This theory course for the RN student focuses on aging processes, health promotion, illness prevention, and managing acute and chronic health problems in diverse older adults. Gerontology nursing integrates nursing theories and other disciplines, including social sciences and humanities, to provide safe, quality, equitable care across various healthcare settings. RN students learn to promote person-centered care across the continuum, coordinate resources within complex healthcare systems from a global perspective and apply healthcare technologies following evidence-base practice and professional standards. The course fosters professional development, emphasizing ethics, advocacy, collaboration, and well-being to encourage leadership and lifelong learning in addressing the unique needs of diverse older adults.
