NURS 7611 - PUBLIC HEALTH/COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING II: PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT, FAMILY ASSESSMENT AND INTERVENTION

The second course in the public health/community health nursing services emphasizes evidence-based population focused, community and public health oriented advanced nursing practice, based on the Scope and Standards of public Health Nursing and the Public Health Nurse Competencies. The course builds on the knowledge and skills gained in NURS 7610. The focus is public health/community health nursing leadership, collaboration, and program planning. Students gain competency in family assessment, program design and selecting evidence-based interventions required to meet the programmatic health needs of an aggregate population or community. The clinical practicum focuses on developing competency in the application of public health/community health nursing, advanced family assessment models, and program development utilizing leadership skills under the guidance of course faculty and clinical preceptors.
