NURS 7613 - PUBLIC HEALTH/COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING IV: PROGRAM EVALUATION, PUBLIC HEALTH LAW & POLICY

This course focuses on finalization of community health program evaluation process, public health law and public health policy development. The student refines their skills, knowledge, and competencies in program evaluation strategies. Some of the social political, legal, and ethical forces that shape evaluation design, implementation, and utilization will be studied. Students refine their intervention program with an emphasis on outputs and outcomes to ensure program is cost effective and cost efficient, delivering the required services. Policies, procedures, and data management systems are developed for sustainability of program. Health policy and health law and the implications for advanced public/community health nursing are examined. The process of developing a health policy is explored. The process of allying and writing a grant for funding a specific public/community health nursing project is analyzed. The student develops a rudimentary public health nursing research program/agenda. Practicum focuses on ongoing competency development in advanced public health/community health nursing practice under the guidance of course faculty and supervision by approved preceptors.
