NURS 7934 - INTRODUCTION TO MIDWIFERY[2 Credits] This course introduces the essential principles of midwifery, focusing on its cultural, structural, and regulatory influences throughout history and today. Students will compare the midwifery model of care with nursing and medical approaches, exploring their impact on perinatal health outcomes and maternity systems. Through critical analysis of health disparities and personal biases, learners will enhance their understanding of their roles as nurse-midwives. Engaging in discussions, case studies, and collaborative projects, students will develop leadership skills to enhance the profession of nurse-midwifery and promote the midwifery model of care.
