NURS 7944 - MIDWIFERY CARE: GYNECOLOGIC, SEXUAL & REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND ANTEPARTAL CARE

This course prepares students to apply midwifery principles in managing reproductive, sexual, and gynecologic health for adolescents and adults and advanced midwifery care for pregnant people. Focus areas include evidence-based care planning, health education, communication strategies, and ethical decision-making in reproductive health. Students will develop person-centered care plans that consider social and cultural factors and explore the use of technology to enhance patient care and healthcare delivery. Additionally, students will design policies to improve accessibility, quality, and cost-effectiveness of sexual and reproductive healthcare at various levels of the healthcare system. Emphasis is placed on utilizing quality and safety principles to enhance care 6elivery and self-management, while fostering collaboration with the healthcare team. You will also explore policy and advocacy strategies to address health inequities and improve access to care, equipping you to lead change in midwifery practice and policy. Clinical practicum experiences will take place in outpatient and community settings.
