DLT 2104 - Fundamentals of Occlusion I[3 Credits] This lecture laboratory course is designed to provide the student a comprehensive study of theory and practice in occlusal rehabilitation. A primary concern of the dental technologist is the restoration of the occlusal surfaces of teeth of opposing arches together in such a manner that they still function to preserve the health of the masticatory system. The student will study the dynamics of mandibular movement and its effect on tooth form. Principles of articulation and instrumentation will be presented to enable the student to simulate mandibular movements on an articulator. Occlusal restorations will be fabricated in wax on a semi adjustable articulator, according to functional criteria.
