NURS 6334 - Advanced Neonatal Assessment

[3 credits]
This course focuses on advanced assessment of the normal and high-risk neonate and development of expanded neonatal assessment skills to include history taking, physical and gestational age assessment, behavioral, cultural and genetics assessment. Under the guidance of course faculty and supervision by approved preceptors, students are assisted in recognizing minor variations in normal neonates as well as pathophysiological changes and develop a plan for advanced nursing management. Focus is on development of critical decision making skills as they relate to assessment of well and at risk neonates of varying gestational ages with recognition of situations requiring interdisciplinary consultation or referral. Corequisite: NURS 6335 , NURS 6336 .
