PHTH 7111 - PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE IN PHYSICAL THERAPY I[3 Credits] This course introduces the student to the role of the professional physical therapist, the American Physical Therapy Association and expected professional behaviors, including: appropriate language and communication with patients, clients and peers. Principles of physical therapy documentation, medical terminology, and supervision of assistive personnel are introduced and practiced. Students are introduced to medical ethics and different models of ethics and ethical-decision making are applied to the field of physical therapy. Current models and theories of developing culturally proficient physical therapy practices are also introduced, discussed, and applied to specific cultures commonly seen in regional clinical practice.
