BCHS 7221 - STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODELING AND PSYCHOMETRICS[3 Credits] The purpose of this course is to provide training in test validation and reliability assessment using current best psychometric practices including structural equation modeling (SEM). Students will learn historical and methodological principles of detection and identification of underlying latent factors including exploratory and confirmatory factor analytic and path analytic methods. Students will also learn to employ SEM to evaluate complex structural relationships and are encourage to have access to their own data sets for use in class activities. The course is structured to emphasize application of SEM rather than the mathematical underpinnings or technical aspects. When taken in conjunction with BIOS 6312 Sampling Methods and EPID 6228 Survey Design, this course offers students thorough training in Survey Methodology.
