EPID 6351 - PUBLIC HEALTH SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM THEORY AND METHODS[2 Credits] The goal of this course is to make the students aware of all aspects that must be considered when designing or working with a Public Health Surveillance System (PHSS). The lectures will concentrate on the different types of PHSS, database structures, practical design elements, data gathering strategies, quality control and evaluation considerations and the role of PHSS within the public health community. Additionally, students will be given the opportunity to utilize their analytical skills and demonstrate their mastery of statistical software packages by performing preliminary analysis of a real PHSS data set. Prerequisite: EPID 6210
