NURS 7211 - PSYCHIATRIC-MENTAL HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONER 1: INFANT, CHILD, & ADOLESCENT MENTAL HEALTH

This course builds upon the theoretical and biological fundamentals necessary for the psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner’s comprehensive management of patients across all stages of infancy, childhood, adolescence and the effects on their families. The course provides diverse educational pedagogy focused on the evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, and pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment of psychiatric and mental illnesses, and the primary preventions for infants, children, and adolescents at risk for psychiatric and mental illnesses. Psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner students will explore the biological and behavioral concepts of advanced psychiatric nursing in the pediatric and adolescent period. Integrated clinical experiences in a variety of settings complement didactic concepts for psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner students apply knowledge and make clinical decisions in the pediatric and adolescent population.
