NURS 7212 - PSYCHIATRIC-MENTAL HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONER II: ADULT & GERONTOLOGY PSYCHIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH

This course builds upon the theoretical and biological fundamentals of psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner’s comprehensive management of patients across all stages of adulthood (adult 18-64 years old, young-old 65-74 years, middle-old 75-84 years, and oldest old > 85 years) and their families. The course provides diverse educational pedagogy focused on the evidenced-based assessment, diagnosis, and pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment of psychiatric and mental illness; and the primary prevention for adults at risk for psychiatric and mental illnesses. Psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner students will explore the biological and behavioral concepts of advanced psychiatric nursing in the adult population. Integrated clinical experiences among a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings complement didactic concepts for psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner students to apply knowledge and make clinical decisions in the adult population.
