DENT 1103 - FUNDAMENTALS OF OPERATIVE DENTISTRY[200 Credits] This lecture and laboratory course teaches the basic principles of cavity design and restoration to prepare students for the clinical Comprehensive Dentistry. It teaches procedures necessary to restore teeth with amalgam, cast gold and composite resin. Current bonding systems and adhesive dentistry will be introduced. Cavity preparations are made and the restorations placed in extracted natural teeth and plastic teeth in a typodont. The laboratory portion of this course is given in the simulation laboratory to duplicate closely the conditions the student will encounter in the clinic.
