ORTHO 5219 - ADVANCED ORTHODONTIC TECHNIQUE II[2 Credits] The purpose of this course is to enhance the materials introduced in the Advanced Orthodontic Techniques course (Ortho 5202) and in the Seminar course (Ortho 5201) with additional information on different orthodontic treatment philosophies and biomechanical principles including: Tweed mechanics, Roth mechanics, MBT mechanics, and Surgical Orthodontic mechanics. Students will integrate the gnathological (occlusion) principles into orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning for each of these principles. The treatment mechanics for each discipline will be incorporated into the respective treatment philosophy. Students will familiarize themselves with the cephalometric analyses, software applications and instruments used in each of the philosophies.
