NURS 3366 - MENTAL HEALTH NURSING PRACTICUM[2 Credits] In N3366 students build on knowledge gained in the social sciences, basic sciences, Abnormal Psychology, Pharmacology, Health Assessment and Foundations of Nursing Practice. In this clinical course, students explore and apply theories, concepts, knowledge, and skills in providing nursing care to patients and families of diverse backgrounds who are coping with mental health issues. At the completion of this course, students will be able to apply the nursing process to assist patients and families with health promotion, disease prevention, and illness management according to ANA Standards of Practice. Students will apply the core values of caring, professionalism, respect, integrity, diversity, and excellence; and demonstrate the skills of communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and coordination. Clinical experiences occur primarily on in-patient psychiatric units with adult patients. Prerequisites: NURS 2351, NURS 2362, NURS 2372, HI-SC 3409, HI-SC 3410. Corequisite: NURS
