RN to MSN Concentration

The RN to MSN concentration is for the highly motivated qualified registered nurse (RN) who wishes to pursue graduate coursework in nursing. After completing pre-requisite and support courses, nursing courses, and transition courses, the student may select the nurse educator or clinical nurse leader concentration. RN’s completing this program receive a baccalaureate equivalency facilitating graduates to meet the Louisiana State Board of Nursing requirements for those interested in teaching in Louisiana Schools of Nursing. Notice
LSUHSC School of Nursing Master of Nursing, Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Adult/Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist, Public/Community Health Clinical Nurse Specialist, and Nursing Administration concentrations have had a major curriculum change from the awarding of a Master of Nursing degree to a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree for these graduate concentrations. Applicants to these programs for the summer 2014 class will be admitted to a BSN to DNP curriculum.
Admissions to the RN to MSN Program will continue.

- HLSC 2410 - HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY [4 Credits]
- HLSC 2412 - HUMAN ANATOMY [4 Credits]

The student is then eligible to take the core MSN courses and either the Clinical Nurse Leader or Nurse Educator concentration courses. At this point, the student will be advised by the Program Director for the concentration they select.
