Dental
The Grace Voigt Scholarship - The late Ms. Grace Voigt served as director of student affairs from 1968-1992. In her honor, the Alumni Association of the LSU School of Dentistry established the scholarship fund through the LSU Health Sciences Center Foundation. The amount of the scholarship derives from the yearly earnings of the fund. Each year, a rising second, third, and fourth year dental student who exhibits outstanding leadership, character, concern for fellow students and patients, high ethical standards, and dedication to the profession of dentistry receives this scholarship.
The Hotel Dieu Medical & Dental Staff Scholarship in Dentistry - In 1997, due to the generous donation of the Hotel Dieu medical staff, a scholarship fund was established through the LSU Health Sciences Center Foundation. The amount of the scholarship derives from the yearly earnings of the fund. This scholarship is awarded annually to a fourth year dental student who has demonstrated outstanding scholarship, leadership, and professionalism for the first three years of dental school.
The William F. Toler Memorial Scholarship - In 1979, the family and friends, in memory of Dr. William F. Toler, established a scholarship through the LSU Health Sciences Center Foundation. The amount of the scholarship derives from the yearly earnings of the fund. This scholarship is awarded to a third year dental student who has demonstrated accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, leadership, professionalism to include participation in activities that develop responsibility, and financial need.
The Carl Baldridge Memorial Scholarship in Dentistry - Due to the generous donation from the late Dr. Carl Baldridge to the School of Dentistry a scholarship fund was established through the LSU Health Sciences Center Foundation to honor the top academically rising second, third, and fourth year dental students. Scholarships are awarded annually based on the yearly earnings of the fund.
James L. Rodriguez Rodgers & Betty Ann Rodgers Scholarship - In 2010, due to the generous donation of Dr. and Mrs. Rodgers, a scholarship fund was established through the LSU Health Sciences Center Foundation. The amount of the scholarship derives from the yearly earnings of the fund. The scholarship is awarded yearly and provides assistance and encouragement to dental students who have completed the LSUSD Summer Enrichment Program.
Germaine & J. Jerome Smith Scholarship - In March of 2021, Germaine and J. Jerome SMith, DDS, established the scholarship to provide financial support and tuition assistance to two dental students who are Louisiana residents and who have demonstrated financial need.
Dr. Robert B. Brannon Scholarship - This scholarship honors a rising fourth year dental student who has demonstrated excellence in oral and maxillofacial pathology. This scholarship is in memory of Robert B. Brannon, DDS, MSD, professor of oral and maxillofacial pathlogy at LSUSD from 1996-2012. It was established by his wife, Mrs. Julie Brannon, through her generous donations and with those of others, to the LSU Health Sciences Center Foundation.
Carl & Beulah Baldridge Rural Scholars Track Scholarship in Dentistry - The Carl & Beulah Baldridge Rural Track Scholarship in Dentistry funds base tuition (does not include fees) for School of Dentistry students who are accepted into the school’s rural scholar track program. All LSU Health dental students who are Louisiana residents are eligible to apply. Those awarded are eligible for a waiver for their base tuition for every year they agree to serve in a rural Louisiana Dental Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA).
Dr. Jeffrey P. Feingold/MCNA Dental Rural Scholars Scholarship - Established in 2017, The Dr. Jeffrey P. Feingold/MCNA Dental Rural Scholars Scholarship supports students enrolled in the LSU Health School of Dentistry’s rural track program. The rural track program is an effort to increase the number of new graduate dentists practicing in Louisiana Dental Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSA). This scholarship provides funds for tuition and/or to enhance educational experience outside of the classroom, for example, to fund clinical experiences in underserved areas of the state or to attend national meetings related to public health and caring for the underserved.
Dental Hygiene
Tracy Helm, RDH, Scholarship in Dental Hygiene - The family of the late Tracy Helm, a graduate of the program in dental hygiene, donated $10,000 the LSUHSC-NO Foundation to establish a scholarship in her memory. The scholarship amount derives from the yearly earnings of the fund. This scholarship is given annually to a second year dental hygiene student who, in the opinion of the dental hygiene faculty, is the most outgoing, personable, kind, and considerate of his/her fellow students and patients.
Dental Laboratory Technology
The John Lapeze Scholarship - Friends of Mr. John Lapeze have contributed to the LSU Health Sciences Center Foundation to establish the scholarship. The amount of the scholarship derives from the yearly earnings of the fund. This scholarship may be awarded annually to an outstanding second year dental laboratory technology student who, in the opinion of the dental laboratory technology faculty, demonstrates responsibility, leadership and citizenship, technical aptitude, academic achievement, and financial need.
