DHY 4108 - DENTAL PUBLIC HEALTH I[1 Credit] This course introduces students to information about community that is relevant to dental hygiene. Dental hygiene students are required to understand the oral health needs of the community and how to provide community oral health services in a variety of settings. In addition, students will focus on the role of a practicing dental hygienist in the health ecology of the United States, exploring social issues, consumerism, legislation, alternative systems of health care and other issues. This course is designed to prepare the dental hygiene student to assess, develop, plan, implement, and evaluate a dental hygiene program planning project. Students will apply these principles in a wide variety of extramural experiences in the subsequent course.
