NURS 6337 - Nursing Management of the High Risk Neonate I[5 Credits] This course builds upon theoretical and practical knowledge of neonatal physiology and advanced neonatal assessment. Students assess and utilize strategies to manage the high-risk neonate who is critically ill, including appraisal, resuscitation and stabilization. Management of the high–risk neonate with selected physiological problems, psychosocial and environmental needs of the neonate/family and the role of the advanced practice nurse. Practicum focuses on developing clinical competency in the role and scope of advanced neonatal nursing practice under the guidance of program faculty and direct supervision by approved preceptors. Includes classroom and field experiences. Prerequisite: NURS 6334 , NURS 6335 , NURS 6336 .
